MICHIGAN HR DAY ESSAY CONTEST

About the Essay Contest

The Michigan HR Day Student Essay Contest is an opportunity for college and university students to help advance the profession of Human Resource Management. Students interested in participating should use original ideas and submit their essay before May 15th to compete in the contest. The essays will be evaluated by members of the Michigan HR committee to determine the winning submissions.

The first place winner will be awarded a $500.00 VISA gift card. The second place winner will be awarded a $250.00 VISA gift card.

Selection Criteria

Only essays submitted by May 15 will be considered. Submit the essay below in the Submission Form. It must be between 900 and 1,100 words.

The following criteria will be used to evaluate and score the entries.

Expresses original ideas supported by examples

Uses educational knowledge in the field of HR

Demonstrates solid writing mechanics including: sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and organization

Eligibility

Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a Michigan college or university with a degree concentration in Human Resources or related field. Upon acceptance of your essay submissions you will be asked to provide proof of current enrollment. Recent graduates as of April-May 2012 are eligible to participate.

Awards

The first place winner will receive a $500.00 VISA gift card. The second place winner will receive a $250.00 VISA gift card. Both winners will be invited to the 2012 Michigan HR Day Conference and may be asked to present their essay. The winning essays may be published to MichiganHR.org and other media outlets.
